““What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be
good grades in school, but a different way of
looking at the world and learning.”
Welcome to the first module of the course!
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that is characterized by deficits in social communication and social interaction and by repetitive patterns displayed in behavior or interests.
Autistic people can have a good mental health, or experience mental health issues and conditions, just like everyone else. Where autistic people do experience mental health difficulties, it is often due to the stress of living in an autism-hostile society rather than due to the autism itself.
Our workplaces are a microcosm of society and our colleagues and students bring together a wealth of skills, abilities and opinions. Ensuring that our workplaces support all, we must make sure that the needs of neurodivergent people are taken into account.
As an employer, you can help make the world a more autism-friendly place. We know that many of you are leading the way and making great progress in adapting your practice and making small adjustments that make a big difference to autistic employees.
The goal of this module is to explore the environmental and behavioural aspects in the workplace.
The module includes in total 3 topics.
